When babies aren't cared for, nurtured or touched for a long period of time, really sad and strange things happen to them. In the first three years of life, the brains of infants who are neglected don't develop the same as in other infants. They have a hard time with motor skills, language, body language, stress levels in the body, and later the aility to identify feelings...
